2/17/2025 – Dean

Hello again! This time its Dean, a developer for the Caesura team. Caesura was an idea I had when I about playing Link’s Awakening as a kid. You go around koholint island picking up instruments to play a song to wake the wind fish up from his nightmare. I remember feeling bummed when I got an instrument after finishing the first dungeon and found that I couldn’t actually use the intrument, it was a mcguffin. In Caesura we want to make a tight and fun metroidvania experience while tying in close to music and rhythm, to make the world feel alive! Today I’m showing off the Golem enemy. You’ll see he starts out in a little box, and when you get close he wakes up and starts moving towards you on the beat! he also attacks on the beat, but I’m excited to use the golem in puzzles, luring him to certain areas as a makeshift platform, or to push down buttons. I also finished adding moving platforms that activate when the player is near. In the world of Caesura, music brings the world alive, which wakes up enemies and platforms, brings in color, and more. Thanks everyone! See you next week!
