Greetings, pumpkins!
It’s been a little while, so let’s bring you up to tempo on what we’ve been composing behind the scenes! One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced so far is… well, kind of a big one: none of us on the team are experienced composers. Which, y’know, is mildly terrifying for a game built entirely around music.
That said—we’ve got exciting news about this problem, but I’ll leave that reveal to someone else next week. Stay tuned. It’s worth it.
The Realm System: Music Comes Alive
Now for the main event—something we’ve dreamt about since Caesura was just a scribble in a sketchbook. We’re thrilled to introduce the Realm System, our dynamic music layering framework! In Caesura, your character helps nightmares awaken, bringing life back to the world. We wanted the music to reflect that transformation. With the Realm System, we can now have music build and evolve based on where you are, what you’ve done, and which nightmares you’ve saved. Each layer of the soundtrack represents a part of the world waking up—sometimes subtly, sometimes with flair. Instruments fade in. Harmonies grow. Beats emerge. It’s alive. To test it out, I transcribed a very familiar tune (you might recognize it) and—wow—it’s already bringing the game to life. Even without our final compositions, it’s working. And it’s magical. Thank you so much for following along. More color, more rhythm, and more heart are on their way. Until next time, keep humming
PS: The framerate isn’t the game, my pc doesn’t record well
