Hello folks! It’s been an interesting week—the team had a big meetup and discussed the direction of the game. Mostly, we talked about what’s been working (and what hasn’t!) for keeping things moving with game development. We realized that we have the most fun when we’re working together and set up a rhythm of regular coworking. We also divided up some responsibilities a little more. This is important because no one on this team is working full time—this is a hobby for everyone! So far this has delivered some good results—the pace has picked up a bit, and showing each other what we’re working on today has been great. My most recent task has been getting “portals” working. We have a couple of small areas built and our main character has been leaping around them for months now. What she hasn’t been doing is walking between them—until last week. Portals are the connections that stitch the world map together. You walk in one and come out somewhere else. It’s not all the way done yet, but there’s something magical about the feeling of walking from place to place—it helps the world feel a little more cohesive and real.
