Sorry, turned on debug for this video for the beat to be extra visible. The flashing light, metronome tock, all the text, and Sauron’s eye will not be part of the game. This has been a busy month since I last shared an update! We have been cranking out levels and refining components a lot lately. I’m really excited about a change we made to how music builds, but I think I should save that for Rayna to share next week :). I’m also excited to share some changes we made to crumbling platforms in the game. In order to make these platforms add more to the rhythm driven gameplay, I’ve made the following adjustments:
- crumbling platforms will not crumble if you jump off of them on a beat
- they will crumble and the jump will fail if you miss the beat
- tightened up the “player is on me” detection
- if the player stands around on the platform without attempting a jump, they have a full beat before the platform crumbles on the beat
This describes only about 5% of the work I’ve done on the game this last month, but we have to keep some secrets!
We are on track for releasing a demo in June so the whole team is continuing to push for that goal! Thanks for checking in, see you all next week when Rayna will give us all an update on sound/music!
